Governor Ganduje was said to have attended a rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that was held on Tuesday in Zamfara, and had left in the convoy of Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru, after the rally.

The Kano governor is suspected to be the target of the accosters.

This is the third time gunmen would be attacking the convoy of a sitting governor in the last one year.

In July 2020, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, escaped an ambush by suspected Boko Haram members while on a trip to Monguno and Baga towns to distribute food items to Internally Displaced Persons.

Two months after, Zulum’s convoy was attacked again during which 15 persons were reportedly killed.

Also, in March 2021, armed men attacked the convoy of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, along Makurdi/Gboko road in the state.

His security aides were said to have repelled the attack.
