Barely one week after prohibiting persons of opposite sexes from boarding same commercial tricycles in the state, the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led Kano State government has reversed its decision.
The Kano government reversed the decision after widespread condemnations trailed it on social media.
The government had said the move was necessary to uphold Islamic values in the state.
But the Kano Hisbah Board, which is responsible for implementing the directive, announced the suspension through its spokesperson, Lawan Faggae, on Tuesday.
“The law has been suspended till further notice. The decision was taken after consultation with leadership of commercial tricycle operators who pleaded for extending the implementation date,” Fagge told Premium Times.
