A gardener, Nnaji Nwabueze, has been arrested by the police after using the internet to threaten to kidnap and murder his boss.

Nwabueze, who was said to have similarly threatened members of the public using text messages and the internet, was arrested by operatives of the central police station, Enugu, on Friday.

The Enugu police command said the suspect often demanded money from his victims.

The gardener’s arrest came after his boss (name withheld), an Enugu-based businessman, reported him to the police.

The command’s public relations officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, told newsmen on Saturday in Enugu that the suspect threatened to kidnap and murder his boss if he failed to provide an amount he demanded.

“Following the report and intelligence information gathered, the suspect was promptly nabbed for allegedly issuing threats via the internet and text messages to his boss.

“The suspect was identified as the personal gardener to the victim (his boss, the Enugu-based businessman).

“The suspect, following his arrest, revealed how he and some of his cohorts usually perturbed their victims with their nefarious activities.

“The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmad Abdurrahman, has directed for a full scale investigation into the nefarious activities,’’ he said.

Amaraizu added that the suspect regretted his actions, attributing it to “act of Satan.’’
