Speaking after signing the bill, Governor Makinde noted that Amotekun was established to complement security agencies in tackling insecurity in the South West region and not to replace them.

He said the security agencies had been stretched to the limit as most of their personnel had been deployed to the North-East to address security challenges in the region.

“But we still need to create a safe and secure environment at the state and local government levels so that our people can go about their lawful business.

“I’m also using this opportunity to thank our security agencies for the work they are doing,” he stated.

Makinde expressed Amotekun would fish out criminally minded people who have continued to disturb the peace of the state.

Oyo Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, Secretary to the State Government, Olubanwo Adeosun, Chief of Staff, Bisi Ilaka, Speaker Debo Ogundoyin, and other top government officials witnessed the signing of the bill.
