Gunmen Kidnap Abia Varsity Deputy VC

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics in Abia State University Prof. Godwin Emezue has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

It was learned that the kidnappers, said to be more than three in number, invaded him at the fuel station, dragged him into a Lexus SUV, and collected his wife’s ATM.

The incident according to reports occurred on Friday at a fuel station located at Umuekwule, Amachara in Umuahia South LGA at around 7 p.m. when he was refuelling his vehicle with his wife.

According to his wife, who was with him at the fuel station, the gunmen dragged him into their car and drove away towards the Imo-Abia border.

Confirming the ugly development to our correspondent, a source from the University shared a message that was received from the University WhatsApp group.

The message reads, “Dear Colleagues, greetings to you. Sad to inform you that Prof. G.I. N. Emezue, DVC (Academic) has been kidnapped this evening at his Ezeleke Umuopara Umuahia. We pray for his safety while waiting for their contact as none has come for now.”
