Herdsmen Attacked Our Operatives While Trying To Resolve Dispute With Farmers In Ondo-Amotekun

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun has said some of its officials were attacked by herdsmen while settling a rift between them and farmers.

The State Commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this to newsmen in Akure on Wednesday.

The security outfit explained that members of the operatives had moved to the said location in Osi community, Akure North Local Government Area, following a distress call from farmers that herdsmen were allegedly destroying their farm.

“Some farmers from Osi Community ran to the office complaining that their farms had been destroyed by herds. We sent our men there to assess the situation.

“They found out that the herds were actually on the farm and we invited the herdsmen. But unfortunately, on getting there, they attacked our men with knives and other dangerous weapons.

“But we were able to arrest one of them, named Abdulkadir Mohammed,” he said, adding that he was arrested with dangerous weapons while 16 cows were seized.

Meanwhile, the Commander disclosed that two suspected cattle rustlers were arrested while it also impounded a NISSAN Serena marked LAGOS FJ 423 KRD, brought by the suspects to steal cows belonging to one Alhaji Ilyasu.

Adeleye said Ilyasu had reported the cow heist and operatives were sent out. “We were able to recover the vehicle they wanted to use in stealing the cows, we also recovered the cows,” he said.
