This was said to have led to an altercation between him and his killers who matcheted him to death on the spot.

The attack happened at Boole village, Ijabe in the Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.

A resident of the community, who identified himself as Segun Oluwole, told journalists that the herdsmen reared their cattle to the area and destroyed the deceased’s farm.

“The altercation that ensued snowballed into a fisticuff between the deceased and one of the herdsmen during which the herder matchete Ridwan to death on the spot.

“Some youths in the village quickly rushed to the herdsmen settlement in the town. The suspect and two others who were at the scene were caught and they were taken to the police station in the town.

“The police later visited the scene and removed the corpse and took him to mortuary.”

But efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, were unsucessful.
Calls placed to her phone indicated that her number was not within the network coverage area .

But a security source confirmed that the matter has been transferred to State Police Command headquarters for investigation.
