I Didn’t Join Music Industry To Get Rich–Blackface

Nigerian singer, Ahmedu Augustine, well known as Blackface, has stated that he didn’t come to the music industry to get rich, adding that the media has brought his brand to ‘ground zero.’

Blackface was a member of the now-defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, and he’s known to have an age-long issue with his former group member, 2baba.

Speaking in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo in his show, #WithChude, he said, “The media has succeeded in bringing the brand Blackface Naija to ground zero.”

The father of two who revealed that he has separated with his wife said, “No Nigerian or any award has given me one award. I’m the one they don’t want to talk about but it’s all good.

“I came into the music industry to make music for the fans. I did not come to the industry because I wanted to get rich.

“But as far as the people embrace the music, then who cares?

“I don’t worry about the media. I just make music for them. I talk about it; creepy agents everywhere. They are all creepy agents and I make music with them.”.

The Plantashun Boiz group was formed during their college years in Enugu, at the Institute Of Management and Technology.

It was the rave of the music industry during the late 90s and early 2000s till they broke up in 2004.
