Imo Gov’t Graduates 305 Women Who Trained In Spices Production

Three hundred and five women drawn from across Imo State, weekend, graduated after training in spices production, an initiation of the Imo State Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition.

During the graduation that held at the Imo State secretariat complex, off Port-Harcourt road, Owerri, the commissioner for entrepreneurship and skills acquisition, Hon Noble A. Atulegwu, described the event as a true fulfillment of Governor Uzodinma’s economic agenda. According to him, it was aimed at making the women productive and self-reliant, which would in turn trigger a boost in the state’s economy.

According to the commissioner, “Gov Hope Uzodinma has once again shown to Imo people that he is committed to uplifting their lives. The impacts Gov Uzodinma is making on the lives of Imo people have surely convinced the good people of Imo State that the creation of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition was a display of the visionary leadership of the governor.”

The state commissioner for women’s affairs and vulnerable groups, Mrs Nkechinyere Ugwu, assured Imo women that the state government was committed to protecting their interest and welfare.

A beneficiary, Nkechi, described the gesture as memorable. She said, “With this training and startups, I am well equipped to contribute my quota towards the economic development of our state. I’ll in turn help others by teaching them what we learnt. We learnt how to make various local and foreign food spices; how to produce, preserve and package them for marketing.”

THE WHISTLER reports that the beneficiaries were trained by resource persons from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
