Impeach ‘Sick’ Buhari Like He Called For Yar’Adua’s Impeachment, Protesters Tell NASS

As President Muhammadu Buhari clocks 92 days today since he left the country on medical vacation in London, some Nigerians have staged a protest in Abuja to ask for the president’ impeachment .

The citizens, under the aegis of Concerned Nigerians on Monday, staged a peaceful protest march to the Unity Fountain where they asked President Buhari to resume, resign or have him impeached.

The placard carrying protesters, who recalled how President Buhari called for late Yar Adua`s impeachment when the latter was sick, equally implored the National Assembly to impeach the president if he fails to resign.

The protesters, led by Charly Boy and Deji Adeyanju, were seen carrying placards with the inscription:

“Resume or Resign Nigerians say enough is enough”;
“Buhari ! Where are you?” “We Are Tired of Being Enslaved in Our Country,”
“Our Mumu Don Do”;
“Buhari Called For Impeachment When Yar’adua Was Sick, Now We Are Calling For Same.”

Adeyanju further said, “90 days is too long for a president to be away from his country without any explanation to the people that voted him into office.

“We hereby demand that the National Assembly invoke Section 144 sub Section 4 of the Nigerian Constitution and direct the setting up of a medical panel in conjunction with the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to ascertain whether the President is incapacitated,” he said.

Meanwhile Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, had said earlier that President Buhari cannot be substituted.

“The important thing is that government has been working. We have not missed one single federal executive council meeting since he left,” the minister had said in reaction to calls for the president`s resignation.
