Insecurity In Anambra Politically Motivated, Says Commissioner for Information Adinuba

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, has claimed that the spate of insecurity in the state is politically motivated.

Adinuba disclosed this while featuring on Arise Television ‘Morning Show’ on Wednesday.

The commissioner, while responding to issues of insecurity, ask Nigerians “not to give in to the public hysteria created by the social media”.

He accused the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami and his “allies” of intentionally framing the state as insecure by suggesting a declaration of state of emergency in Anambra.

“We have had elections in the last four years and each of them have been exceedingly peaceful but it is a pity that a particular individual entered the race and we are having this crisis.

“This is a repeat of what happened in 2003, 2004, 2007, when this individual wanted to be governor. I saw institution of the government and organization burnt in broad day light.

“The House of Assembly, Governor’s lodge Onitsha, the Government House Awka burnt down. The person wanted a state of emergency so that they will become a sole administrator under Obasanjo.

“Now the same person, his Ally, the AGF; Minister of Justice has now called for a state of emergency in Anambra State. You see where everything is going? Before this person entered the race there was peace in Anambra State,” he said without identifying who the person is.

Although the state has recorded no fewer than 37 deaths since September 10, but Adinobi insisted that the state was safe and ready for the election.

“I said for the past seven and half years, Anambra has been the safest. What is going on now is politically motivated; I am not denying that and I also said one individual have been responsible from 2003 – 2007 is back in the race as he was that time and all this are happening and I am not denying that,” he stressed.

He berated those who had gone outside of the state to campaign, describing them as “unserious”. He added that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) party is ready for the election and has been campaigning in all parts of the state despite the prevailing insecurity.
