Insecurity: Military Can’t Be Effective Without Civillians’ Support, Says Army Chief

The General Officer Commanding, 2 Div. Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Gold Ndubuisi, has assured Nigerians of the determination of the military to ensure victory in the war against terrorists and other criminals threatening the country.

The army chief however said the military needed the support of civillians especially by continuously providing useful information to tackle the criminals.

The GOC, who was represented by Lt. Col. Daniel Ehicheoya, who is a lawyer said this after participating in the “Walk Against Insecurity” by Nigerian Bar Association Ibadan branch, as part of its 2021 Law Week.

He said, ” I really appreciate this honour done to the Nigerian Army. I appreciate the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan branch. I believe we are all partners in progress. We cannot do it alone and so we need the cooperation of everybody.

“Security is business for everybody as no one can do it alone. The military can function effectively if right information is given.

“So, let us all continue to be partners in progress and collaborate to fight insecurity to stand still. We thank you for this honour. We are always ready and willing to partner with you as lawyers and the general civilians in the country. We shall continue to work together.”

The NBA chairman, Ibadan, Mr Olayinka Esan, lauded the army boss for the military’s efforts to keep the country safe.

Esan said, “We appreciate the entire Nigerian military through the GOC for participating in our 2021 Law Week “Walk Against Insecurity.

” We hope to invite you also next year as we believe we need to support each other to fight the scourge of insecurity in the country.”
