It stated that structures belonging to the terrorists were also destroyed.

This was disclosed by Defence Spokesman, John Enenche, in a statement.

This came four days after Operation HAIL STORM was launched.

Operation HAIL STORM, which was launched on August 15, has the aim of identifying and destroying ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State and the Lake Chad region.

Enenche said the killing of the terrorists and destruction of their structures were carried out at Warshale in the Northern part of Borno state on August 19.

He did not, however, disclose the number of terrorists killed in the operation.

According to him, the operation was conducted after the headquarters established credible intelligence reports and a series of aerial surveillance missions that “the settlement was one of those being used by the terrorists as staging area to launch attacks.”

He also added: “Accordingly, the Air Task Force dispatched Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and attack helicopters, which engaged the location recording devastating hits resulting in the obliteration of several structures as well as the neutralisation of some of the terrorists.”

Boko Haram terrorists, who first established their presence in Borno state in 2009, have sustained attacks on communities in the North East, recording thousands of deaths.

But, the Nigerian government insists the military had long “technically” defeated the sect.
