Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Infected With Coronavirus

Iran’s deputy health minister Iraj Harirchi who has spearheaded the fight against the deadly Coronavirus has tested positive to the virus, according to the country’s health ministry on Tuesday

The health ministry’s spokesman in an interview with the state-owned news agency IRNA said that the coronavirus test for Harirchi came out positive.

Harirchi reportedly  coughed occasionally and appeared to be sweating with flu like symptoms  before he held a press briefing on Monday

At the conference , Harirchi countered a lawmaker’s claim that 50 people had died from the virus in the Shiite shrine city Qom, saying he would “resign” if the number proved true.


The coronavirus death toll in Iran has hit 15 while 95 had been infected so far with a large percentage of the cases in the northern city of Qom
