JUST IN: Hoodlums Invade SDP Secretariat, Unleash Violence On Party Supporters Ahead Of Ondo LG Election

Some members of the Social Democratic Party in Ondo State have been injured by hoodlums who reportedly attacked the party secretariat and unleashed terror on those found there.

Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that the hoodlums invaded the SDP Secretariat in Idanre town on Tuesday evening.

Members of the party were said to be holding a meeting at the secretariat ahead of the local government election holding in the state on Saturday when the hoodlums struck.

The hoodlums, numbering about two dozens were said to have beaten up the SDP members and inflicted injuries on them using dangerous weapons.

Billboards and property of the party were said to have been destroyed by the hoodlums.

The chairmanship candidate of the SDP, Mr Bankole Akinselure, who was one of the victims of the attack accused the All Progressives Congress of being behind the attack.

Akinselure said, “We were attacked and I called the Divisional Police Officer at Olofin Police Station and Deputy Commissioner of Police but it is unfortunate that the policemen who came to the scene of the attack could not stop the hoodlums.”

He said he was the target of the attack because of his rising popularity. He said the attack has been reported to the traditional ruler of the town.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tee Leo-Ikoro, said he was yet to be properly briefed about the incident.
