Zamfara: Gunmen Strike Again, Abduct 3 Housewives, Babies

Barely 24 hours after unknown gunmen abducted two sons of a former commissioner in Zamfara, Bello Dankande, and two others, some gunmen have reportedly kidnapped three housewives and their babies in the state.

The fresh attack took place in Dareta village, Anka Local Government Area of the state.

The assailants were said to have arrived the village at about 1 a.m. on Wednesday and shot sporadically into the air before kidnapping their victims.

The incident came after the Zamfara Police Command confirmed the abduction of two sons of the former commissioner, a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), and one other person.

According to the spokesperson of the command, SP Muhammad Shehu, the ex-commissioner’s sons were kidnapped at his residence in Gamji, Bakura Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday.

Dankande was the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Gamji.

“At about 4:30am, a large number of armed men invaded the house and kidnapped two of his children and two others including an NSCDC officer on guard duty at the house.

“One person was shot dead while a woman was wounded in the process,” Shehu had said, adding that the command had deployed its operatives to search and rescue the victims.
