JUST IN: U.S. Announces Chloroquine Treatment For Coronavirus

US President, Donald Trump, has announced the approval of chloroquine for use as a treatment against the coronavirus.

Chloroquine is a medication used to prevent and treat malaria in areas where malaria is known to be sensitive to its effects.

Trump said on Thursday that, “We’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, and that’s where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been so great.

“They’ve gone through the approval process — it’s been approved. They took it down from many, many months to immediate. So, we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.”
