Kidnapped Staff Of Ondo FMC Regain Freedom

Four members of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Owo in Ondo State, who were kidnapped on Tuesday have regained their freedom.

It was learnt that the FMC staff which include a pregnant woman, were released after a ransom was paid.

According to Channels Television, the abductors initially kidnapped eight people, but three were freed almost immediately while one person was killed in the process.

The medical workers were kidnapped on the Emure-Ile axis of the busy Akure-Owo expressway, and N50 million ransom was demanded by the kidnappers.

It was not ascertained as at the time of filing this report, if he total sum was paid before their release was secured.

Reports however have it that the pregnant medical doctor who has been identified only as Mrs Ayeku was released after her family paid N2 million ransom.

“She was freed due to her state of condition but not until her family paid the sum of N2 million as ransom.

“She is currently receiving treatment in one of the hospitals in the state capital and I’m aware the female doctor is doing fine,” the source said.
