Lekki Shooting: Nigerian Army Denies Detaining Corpses Of ‘Murdered’ #EndSARS Protesters
The Nigerian Army has denied detaining corpses of #EndSARS protesters allegedly ‘murdered’ by soldiers at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos on Tuesday night.
The army reacted to a report by an online newspaper which claimed that soldiers had hijacked the corpses of some protesters to prevent their colleagues from leaving with evidence of the alleged gruesome murder.
The report had also claimed that the soldiers barricaded the scene of the shooting and prevented wounded protesters from getting help from ambulances.
But reacting via its official Twitter account (@HQNigerianArmy) on Tuesday night, the Nigerian Army described the report as “fake news”.
The army also denied the presence of soldiers at the venue of the shooting.
“No soldiers were at the scene,” the army wrote on a screenshot of the report that accused its soldiers of murder.
Meanwhile, earlier reports said some government officials had removed all CCTV cameras and disconnect the streetlights around the Lekki toll gate before the soldiers allegedly invaded the area and shot sporadically at protesters.
