The immediate past senate president was said to have been away from Kwara since his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost elections in the state and at the federal level during the 2019 general elections.

Saraki shared photos that showed the moment a massive crowd ran after his convoy while he made his way into the state from the Ilorin International Airport.

THE WHISTLER gathered that the two time former Kwara State governor was visiting the state to attend the eight-year Fidau prayer for his late father, Olushola Saraki, and also to join in the silver jubilee celebration of the coronation of the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Saraki had earlier shared a Facebook post in remembrance of his late father after 8 years of his death.

He wrote, “You taught us to always care for those around us, and showed us how to always work to make our communities better. From you, we learnt our patriotism and our selflessness — values that we continue to work to pass down to the next generation.

“As we celebrate your life today Baba, our constant prayer is that Almighty Allah will continue to grant you a peaceful place in Aljannah Firdaus. We miss you.”
