Mass Promotion In The Nigeria Police Force

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has approved the promotion of 28, 627 junior officers to their next rank.

The police in a statement by its spokesman Jimoh Moshood, noted that the promotion was part of the on-going measures by the force to boost the morale of the personnel towards effective and efficient service delivery.

Mr. Moshood added that the act was based on merit, seniority, commitment and dedication to duty.

According to the statement, 7,628 sergeants were promoted to Inspectors, 20,667 corporals were promoted to sergeants and 332 police constables (PC) were promoted to the rank of corporals (CPL).

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, IGP Idris advised them to see their elevation as an incentive to be more dedicated to the rule of law and principles of democratic policing.
