Military Sustains Offensive Against Boko Haram As NAF Helicopter Destroys 6 More Gun Trunks In Borno

Nigerian Air force helicopter gunships continued the onslaught against insurgents in Borno State as 6 additional gun trucks and scores of terrorists were killed in Marte in ongoing operation to defend a military base.

The Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General, John Enenche, in a statement on Sunday said that after successfully repelling the terrorists’ attack on Marte on Saturday, 7 gun trucks belonging to the insurgents were destroyed through combined air and land operations, it has obliterated 6 additional gun trucks and several terrorists who were brought as reinforcement by Boko Haram militants.

According to him, the operation took place early hours of 16 January 2021 as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter gunships engaged the convoy of ISWAP gun trucks as they approached Marte axis.

“The helicopters delivered accurate hits in their multiple waves of attack, obliterating no fewer than 6 additional gun trucks, which were seen engulfed in flames across the battle space. Several other terrorists were mopped-up in follow-on attacks as the helicopter gunships continued to strafe the fleeing ISWAP elements.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria, operating in concert with other security agencies and stakeholders, will sustain the offensive against the enemies of our Great Nation. We shall not relent until normalcy is restored not only in the Northeast but also in every other troubled part of our beloved Country,” he said.
