N23bn Diezani ‘Loot’: Mass Arrest Of Ex-PDP Ministers, Govs Looms As EFCC Detains Wada

Ex-Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N500m traced to his account.

The EFCC said while N500m was traced to Wada, N450m was traced to former Taraba State acting governor, Sani Danladi, as part of the N23bn allegedly disbursed by Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources.

The sums, according to the EFCC, were disbursed to the duo through Senator Nenadi Usman, a former Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation.

“Yes, he (Wada) was invited by the EFCC over N500m Diezani money. He is still in our custody,” EFCC`s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said.

Whereas the anti-graft`s Gombe zonal office said Danladi admitted to receiving the said N450m on behalf of an eight-man committee he chaired in Taraba.

The EFCC stated, “He further stated that, he and the other members of the committee shared N36m among themselves while the balance of N414m was distributed to other stakeholders across the 16 local government areas of the state and one Development Area Council.”

The Commission is said to be making investigations that may lead to the arrest of over 20 former ministers and governors who are all members of the PDP.

Among those who may be picked up soon in connection with N23 billion are; former Minister of Power, Mohammed Wakil (Borno), former Minister of Science and Technology, Alhaji Abdu Bulama (Yobe), former governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, former Kebbi State governnor, Saidu Dakin Garin; former governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State, former governor Ali Modu Sheriff of Borno State, former governor James Ngilari of Adamawa State; and a former governor of Zamfara State, Mamuda Shinkafi.
