NAF, UNESCO Centre Partner On Insecurity

The Nigerian Air Force is set to partner with THE UNESCO Centre Abuja to help curb the challenges of insecurity in the country.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, made this known in Abuja when delegates from UNESCO Centre, Abuja paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The CAS said the ideals of the centre were in tandem with that of the military in its mandate to maintain peace and security through the promotion of education, science and technology development and respect for the culture of individuals’ communities as a form of intelligence gathering.

The CAS opined that it is in the interest of the military to constantly review civil-military relations as this is a mutually beneficial in the progress made thus far in the fight against insurgency and militancy in the country.

Earlier, the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Dominic Ogakwu Jr, had commended the efforts of the Nigerian Air Force in the promotion and sustenance of peace in the country.

Ogakwu also noted that the NAF’s continued effort to defend and protect the territorial integrity of the country against external and local threats remains integral to the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.

He further explained that the group was in the CAS’ office to intimate him on the programmes of the Centre and to partner with the Nigerian Air Force in achieving the Centre’s vision of world peace and development.
