Niger State Fumigates Markets, Worship Centres, Others

The Niger State government on Wednesday flagged – off the fumigation of all major public spaces and buildings in the state, as a proactive measure to minimize and guard the populace against the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and other diseases.

The flag-off, which was done by the state Environmental Protection Agency (NISEPA) took place in Kure Central market, Minna, the state capital.

This was disclosed in a Facebook post on the page of the State Governor, Sani Bello @ The Governor of Niger-State.

According to the post, Commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Zakari, that of Education, Mineral Resources and Water Resouces, Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu, Sunday Kolo and Alhaji Yusuf Suleman as well as the General Manager/ Chief Executive Officer (GM/CEO) Mallam Habib Abdulkadir were at the Flag-off 

Part of the post reads: “The fumigation exercise will be carried out in markets, motorparks, hospitals, educational institutions, major mosques, and churches, police, and army barracks, residential streets, public squares in major urban areas including Minna, Suleja, Bida, Kontagora, Mokwa, New Bussa as a proactive measure to minimize and guard the populace against the COVID19 scourge and other diseases,”

Niger state has not recorded any confirmed case of the virus in the state, since its outbreak in the country in February.

Nigeria presently has 151 confirmed cases of the disease, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
