Nigeria Records Highest Covid-19 Deaths As 1,544 New Cases Are Confirmed

Nigeria has recorded it’s highest number of deaths on Friday as a total of 12 persons were confirmed dead from COVID-19 complications.

Also, the country recorded 1,544 new cases in 21 states as Lagos again confirms 739 cases.

The new figure takes the total confirmed cases in Nigeria to 97,478 as the country approaches the 100,000 mark.

With 12 deaths on Friday, the toll climbed to 1,342.

However, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said 570 persons recovered on Friday, and a total of 78,552 has been discharged so far.

The NCDC had earlier predicted an impending upsurge in COVID-19 cases, owing to the population of individuals who travelled from one place to another within the country, including those who returned from abroad.

The agency has also decried the lackadaisical attitude of the citizenry towards compliance with public safety measures.
