Numan Killings: Group Tells Buhari, Secure Lives Of Nigerians Or Quit

The Make A Difference (MAD), initiative has tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle rampaging herdsmen across the country, or quit

Reacting to the recent sacking of two villages in Numan local government area of Adamawa state, Mr. Lemmy Ughegbe, Executive Director, of MAD, said after having “painstakingly reflected on the heinous killings of the people of Numan by Fulani herdsmen and MAD has come to the conclusion that there is a lack of will by the security agencies and government to protect the people.”

According to Ughegbe, “we must all rise to condemn the Numan killings and challenge this government to either fulfil its primary mandate of protecting the citizens or quit office forthwith. Enough of this senseless killings by Fulani herdsmen. Enough of lame duck excuses by the police and other security agencies.”

The statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja stated that it was sickening to see that these massacres of innocent citizens have gone unchecked from Benue to Kaduna, Kaduna to Plateau and Plateau to Adamawa states, expressing the regret that “up till this minute, nobody has been arrested and charged to court for such heinous crimes. What does it take to stop this senseless and unending killings? Simply bring these culprits to book. But they seem to be above the law.”

The MAD boss wondered how with 5 units of police personnel on ground, the killings went unabated. ‘How does one explain this?’

“It is the position of our initiative that the failure of the police and other security agencies despite prior intelligence smacks of a seeming conspiracy to look the other way while the innocent are slain or a total testament to the incompetence of the police personnel,” the statement read.
