NYSC Certificate Forgery: Bakare Leads Adeosun To Buhari

The trio met behind closed doors inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

A source who spoke to THE WHISTLER claimed that the agenda of the meeting may not be unconnected to the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate forgery scandal leveled against the minister.

“You know Pastor Bakare is the spiritual leader of Mrs. Adeosun. Asides that, Adeosun and Bakare are both from Ogun State” the source said.

“It is possible that his presence at the villa is to beg the president for a soft landing for the minister, as her reaction to the forgery case will positively or negatively affect Buhari’s government,” the source added.

Recall that Premium Times, in an exclusive report, accused the minister of having a forged NYSC in her possession. The certificate was allegedly issued in September 2009, granting her exemption from the mandatory national service on account of age.

The medium claims that the signature on the alleged certificate was forged as the director who purportedly signed it had retired from office 8 months before it was issued to the minister.

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court sitting in Jabi on Friday sentenced a staff of the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation, Lebi-Ayodele James to two years in prison for forging the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, ICAN, certificate.

He was not given an option to pay a fine.

The judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu said the sentence will serve as a lesson to the convict and others who procure fake certificates.

“The convict knew full well that he never had ICAN certificate. He forged the certificate and eventually got elevated from Executive officer to a Senior Auditor,” the judge had said.

The latest development means that the Finance minister risks jail term if the NYSC certificate was indeed forged.

It is also speculated that Adeosun might step down from her position amidst the scandal which has garnered several reactions from Nigerians.
