Offa Robbery: ‘Buhari Quick To Condole With Foreigners But Neglects Nigerians’

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide, Reno Omokri, has lambasted President Muhmmadu Buhari for allegedly always waiting to be told before condoling with victims of attacks in Nigeria.

Speaking in the light of President Buhari’s delay in condoling with the families of 9 policemen and over 20 other victims of the armed robbery attack that occurred in Offa, Kwara State, on Thursday, Omokri accused the president of actively condoling with foreigners but neglecting his country whenever there is loss of lives during attacks.

“Nine policemen died during the daring Offa bank robbery. Not a word of condolence from President Buhari. He even traveled to Katsina the next day. Imagine what this does to the morale of the Police? They are not paid well and their Commander-in-Chief does not give a damn when they are killed! Meanwhile, when one policeman died in France’s terror attack and President Emmanuel Macron addressed France, visited the man’s family, attended his funeral and awarded him France’s highest national award.

“But it is not as if Buhari does not know how to condole. ‪When a gunman killed 9 people in Munich, Germany, on July 22, 2016, President Buhari condoled with the German people the next day. He can condole foreigners. He can’t condole his own people,” said Omokri.

The Presidency had waited until about 6:38 pm on Saturday to condole with families of the attack that happened on Thursday morning.

The Presidency tweeted, “We sympathize with the families of victims, residents of Offa, and the Government & people of Kwara State, on Thursday’s violent robbery attack. The Police have arrested a number of suspects & deployed extra personnel to the town, to assist in investigations and beef up security.”
