Okorocha’s Imo Guber Candidate Set To Dump APC For DPP

There are fresh indications that Governor Rochas Okorocha’s In-Law, Uche Nwosu is set to dump the All Progressives Congress, following his inability to clinch the party’s Guber ticket.

Recall that Nwosu, who is the immediate past Chief of Staff to the Imo State government, failed to secure the party’s governorship ticket and has been in a running battle with the Adams Oshiomhole led APC National Working Committee.

Some of his close supporters and admirers have disclosed that he might be running for the state gubernatorial election under the flagship of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) as the deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to political parties for the withdrawal or replacement of candidates elapses on December 1.

They suggested that Okorocha and his in-law resolved this as a plan B arrangements, which they want to hold as a secret until the last minute.

“Your father is your father, both of you have different lives to live… So does Uche Nwosu and Rochas Okorocha have different lives to live, different destinies,” Samuel Godstime, Vice Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state, said while reacting to Nwosu’s defection rumours.

This development many have described as intriguing, following Okorocha’s vituperations that he still and remains an APC member. He, however, recently said he will support his in-law for the governorship race, should he (Nwosu) join another political party.

“As a father of Imo state, I still remain in the best position to select the best among Emeka Ihedioha, Hope Uzodimma, Ifeanyi Araraume and Uche Nwosu who is the best among all of them. Nwosu believes in Imo state, he has investments in the state.

“Nwosu is my candidate. Any party that these young men want to go they are free and I want to say it again that Nwosu is my candidate.

“In selecting who will govern Imo state, you look at the past record, their history and what investment they have brought to Imo state. I want to announce to you that I am still running for the Senator and my party is still the APC,” Okorocha said on Tuesday at the government House in Owerri, in an interaction with newsmen.

But some supporters of APC in Imo State are expressing concern over the likely effects of the current battle between Governor Okorocha and the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

They say there that their bitter battles may endanger the fortunes of the ruling party in the 2019 elections.

There is also the fear that the current secret moves by some aggrieved stakeholders in the APC power game may be designed to mature at a time it would ultimately harm the party.
