‘Yahoo Boys’ Gang-rape Ogun Teenager At Gunpoint

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected Internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old lady.

The suspects — Tunde Taiwo 22; Damilola Adesina 20; and Adegoke Amos, 21 — were arrested by the police for allegedly gang-raping the victim in the Ijebu Ode area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed these in a statement said the suspects were arrested after the victim reported the case at the Ilese Divisional Police Headquarters, Ijebu-Ode.

The PPRO said the victim, while narating her ordeal said she was going somewhere around the Ita Ale area of Ilese ijebu, when the Yahoo boys in Lexus ES 350 accosted her.

The police spokesman said the victim claimed that the suspects forcefully dragged her into the car and drove to the Rationwa area, where they took turns to rape her at gunpoint.

Oyeyemi said based on the report, the DPO of Ilese division, Mr Yakubu Bala, mobilised detectives and stormed their hideout.

He said one of the three suspects was arrested during the operation.

He said, “The arrested one led the police to the other two, and they were subsequently arrested.

“On interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime and claimed to have believed that the police were no longer working, hence they could do anything they liked, but they were surprised when the police came after them.”

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

He said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation while warning those who had the mind of committing crime to have a rethink, saying the police would nab them and they would be severely punished according to the law.
