Pharrell Williams Stops Trump From Playing His Song At Campaign Rallies

Record producer and singer, Pharrell Williams has ordered the US President Donald Trump to stop playing his hit song, ‘Happy’, during campaign rally.

This is coming after US president on Saturday played ‘Happy’ at a rally which took place a few hours after the shooting at Tree of Life Congregation synagogue in Pittsburgh.

The artiste’s lawyer sent a cease and desist letter to Trump’s representatives accusing him of copyright and trademark infringement for using the song without seeking his permission.

The letter read: “Pharrell has not, and will not, grant you permission to publicly perform or otherwise broadcast or disseminate any of his music.

“On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist’, you played his song Happy to a crowd at a political event in Indiana.

“There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose.”

Adele, Aerosmith, Neil Young, the Rolling Stones and Queen are some of the musicians and bands that have warned Trump against using their songs at his campaigns.
