The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun is meeting with strategic commanders and managers of the Nigeria Police Force to address security-related issues ravaging the country.

The monthly meeting, scheduled for Thursday at Force Headquarters in Abuja, also features the presence of the Police Veterans Foundation as conversations surrounding police retirement would also be discussed.

The meeting will focus on appraising and evaluating the achievements of the police in the past months while discussing rising internal issues including extortion, unregistered vehicles and others.

According to the National Security Tracker (NST), a total of 3,841 people were reported to have been killed by non-state actors, while 4,243 others were kidnapped in 2023.
