Police At APC National Secretariat To Maintain Law And Order – Frank Mba

The Nigeria Police Force, on Tuesday evening explained why it deployed its personnel to the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Force in a statement issued by its Spokesman, Frank Mba, explained that the personnel were deployed to prevent a breakdown of law and order at the secretariat as it was a proactive move by the Force.

The police personnel had earlier in the day taken over the entire secretariat.

The statement reads briefly “The presence of police personnel at the Secretariat is not to seal-up the Complex as has been reported in some quarters but rather to prevent any untoward situation within and around the APC National Secretariat.”

It therefore disclosed that members of the party as well as staff of the secretariat are “at liberty to conduct their legitimate businesses, in and around the Secretariat as always.”

The police action is coming on the heels of the crisis rocking the party since the disqualication of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki from contesting the party’s primaries and the subsequent affirmation of suspension of its Chairman, Adams Oshiohmole by the Appeal Court.

Since then, the party has been factionalised with both sides claiming leadership of the party.
