Policemen, Soldiers Storm Lekki Toll Gate As #EndSARS Protest Resumes In Oshogbo

In an apparent bid to prevent youths from staging a fresh round of #EndSARS protest, armed policemen and soldiers have stormed the Lekki toll plaza in Lagos.

This happened just as some youths resume #EndSARS protest in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The protesters marched through the streets of Osogbo to the Osun State House of Assembly, demanding an audience with the leadership of the Assembly.

They were still waiting for the leadership of the House of Assembly as at the time of filing this report.

But residents of the area said the security personnel were deployed in Lekki Toll Plaza at around midnight in a bid to prevent any gathering of the youths in the area.

But the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, has yet to comment on the deployment to Lekki.

Some youths said on Sunday that the second phase of #EndSARS would resume today in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Delta and Bayelsa.

They were demanding that Buhari, Buratai, Sanwo-Olu must resign and face ICC for allegedly killing innocent Nigerians at Lekki toll gate. They also demanded that police must free all #EndSARS protesters and unfreeze all bank accounts of #EndSARS protesters.

The PPRO in a statement on Sunday had warned against any protest, vowing to suppress such.

The statement read, “The Lagos State Police Command has again warned against any gathering, procession or protest in Lagos State as some unpatriotic individuals and groups are planning to embark on the replica of the recent destructive and violent Endsars protest that left pains and agonies in Lagos State

“The command has reliably gathered intelligence that certain individuals/groups have concluded plans to lure unsuspecting Lagosians, especially youths, into their planned protest which is proposed to commence tomorrow, Monday 7th December, 2020 at designated locations in the state.

“The Lagos State Police Command wishes to re-echo and remind the general public that the Government of Lagos State, businesses, individuals, and security families still groan in losses and pains that the last violent EndSARS protest occasioned. Lagos State is still nurturing the wounds orchestrated by some violent EndSARS protesters and not fit to accommodate such protest for now.”
