Real Madrid Star, Kroos Announces Shocking Retirement From Football

Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos has revealed that he will retire from football at the end of the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

The 34-year-old will hang his boots after his involvement in the competition in his home country from June 2014 to July 14, where he is expected to play a major role.

Kroos was expected to renew his Real Madrid contract at the end of the season but has now stunned the club supporters with his decision to end his illustrious career.

He confirmed his retirement plan in a statement posted on his social media account on Tuesday.

Kroos said: “July 17th, 2014 – the day of my presentation at Real Madrid, the day that changed my life. My life as a footballer – but especially as a person. It was the start of a new chapter at the biggest club in the world. After 10 years, at the end of the season, this chapter comes to an end. I will never forget that insolent successful time! I would particularly like to thank everyone that welcomed me with an open heart and trusted me.

“But I would especially like to thank you, dear Madridistas, for your affection and your love from the first day until the last one. At the same time, this decision means that my career as an active footballer will end this summer after the Euro championship.

Kroos will play his last match for Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final against Dortmund on June 1. He has an opportunity to add to the numerous trophies he has won at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He has lifted a total of 21 trophies at Real Madrid, which includes four Champions League trophies, four La Liga titles, four Super Coppa, three Uefa Super Cups, five FIFA World Club Cup trophies and one Copa Dey Rey trophy.

He was also a member of the Germany team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup trophy in Brazil.

He will be hoping to lead his country to the Euro 2024 trophy on their home soil to cap off a brilliant career in front of their fans.
