Recent Successes Ended Football Crises In Nigeria – Dalong

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalong, has said that the recent achievements by the various national teams have vindicated the sports ministry form its imagined crises.
Dalung said this at the 71st Annual General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation which took place in at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja on Wednesday.
The minister expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Federation has handled the country’s football activities, charging them to administer the nation’s football industry with justice and fairness.

Speaking to nff.com, the 51-year old said: “The crises in Nigeria football have all been erased by the recent successes and I therefore earnestly urge you all to work in unity and for the good of Nigeria football and the Nigeria nation.
“I have been trying to ask this question for a very long time: Why do we have crises in Nigeria football? There is no institution or movement that does not experience crises here and again. But crises should never be perpetual. The successes we are experiencing have erased these crises.”
In addition, the sports minister charged the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board to ensure the payment of all outstanding salaries and bonuses of players and coaches before the end of the year.
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria recently won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, winning the cadet tournament back to back and five times in a row, while Under-23 national team won the Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal.

The Under-23 team has also qualified for the 2016 Olympics just as the Super Eagles progressed into the group stage of the 2018 Fifa World Cup African series.
Also, the Falconets qualified for the 2016 Under-20 Women’s World Cup.
