Reverse Increase In Electricity Tarrif, Fuel Price Or Face Industrial Action, NLC Tells FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress has issued a two week ultimatum to the Federal Government to reverse the hike in electricity tariffs and fuel price or face indefinite industrial action and mass protests.

The Congress disclosed the plan at the end of the Congress’ National Administrative Council and Central Working Committee meetings of the Labour union on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ayuba Wabba, NLC president who addressed the press after the meeting, said that the union noted that the increases have had adverse effects on the masses and should be reversed in the interest of the masses.

This follows the threat by Trade Union Congress to mobilize for strike next week Wednesday if the Federal Government fails not reverse the increases.

Ayuba said that the ultimatum takes immediate effect, warning that at the end of its expiration on September 28, it would mobilize its members nationwide for civil unrest.
