Rivers Rerun: Wike Mocks Amaechi, Says He Left Rivers Shamefully

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday, has alleged that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi had shamefully run away from the state, following the poor performance of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded rerun elections.

Wike made the statement while celebrating the ‘landslide victory’ of the Peoples Democratic Party in the rerun elections, in Government House, Port Harcourt.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for distancing himself from the re-run elections in the state, saying he did not interfere with the exercise.

The governor said the recent polls has shown that Amaechi is not on ground in Rivers state, adding that no Army is stronger than the people.

“Amaechi’s plot to rig the rerun elections was for him to rubbish the Supreme Court Judgement.

“He came back to the state noisily, but left quietly and shamefully.

“No Army is stronger than the people. No police is stronger than our people. How many times will they cancel elections for the APC.

Amaechi is not on ground in Rivers State. Those who were overzealous during the rerun elections did so without the knowledge of the president,” Wike said.
