Senator Dino Melaye Finally Speaks On Failed Attempt To Recall Him

Following the low turnout of electorates anticipated to verify their signatures for his recall on Saturday, Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West Senatorial District has thanked his constituents for disappointing his adversaries.

Recall that a total of 189,870 electorates in Kogi West had reportedly singed a petition asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recall the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator from the Nigerian Senate.

INEC had received the petition from purported voters in the federal lawmaker’s senatorial district who were said to no longer want the him to represent them at the upper legislative chamber.

The development had prompted INEC to initiate the recall process where the signatures of 189,870 Kogi West constituents believed to have signed the petition were verified on Saturday. The exercise recorded an abysmal outcome.

Reacting to the low voters turn out in a tweet on Sunday, Senator Melaye said: “Every lie has an expiry date. Forces of evil will never triumph over forces of light. God is with us.

“Thank you my people. God bless you all. Thank you for the confidence reposed on me. I will not let you down. I will always stand by the truth and the people at all times. God bless Kogi west,” said the lawmaker.
