Shehu Sani Writes Psychiatric Hospital…Says El-Rufai Needs Attention

The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has asked the state psychiatric hospital to conduct a test on the State governor, Mr. Nasir El-Rufai, to ascertain his mental state.

This was contained in a letter written and addressed to the Chief Medical Director, Federal Neuro-psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna on 7 May.

The senator’s call follows a statement made by El-Rufai in which he called on the people of the state to visit violence on the three senators representing them. “shave the heads and beards of Messrs. Sani, Suleiiman Hunkuyi and Danjuma Laah when they come to Kaduna,” he had said.

In his letter, Sani said given the brittle security situation in the country and Kaduna State particularly, a call for violence on he and his two colleagues could only have been made by a diseased mind.

“This open call to violence, disorder and inflammatory predisposition of the speech of a man, who occupies an exalted office, is in my humble opinion, symptomatic of a paranoid personality disorder. It is in the safe interest of the state and the nation that the mental state of the governor be clinically and professionally verified,” said Mr. Sani.

Recall that the governor had been at loggerheads with the trio after they opposed his administration’s bid to obtain a $350million loan.
