Soyinka Reacts To Mass Defection

Professor Wole Soyinka has said no politician should be criticised for the decision to leave a particular party for another.

The nobel writer said this on Thursday during an interactive session in Lagos at the presentation of his new book ‘Who Is Watching The Watchmen?’ in reaction to some of the comments and events that followed the exits of All Progressives Congress (APC) members to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In the space of one week, three state governors have exited the party for the major opposition PDP, following the departures of about 50 federal lawmakers from the party.

However, Soyinka criticised the ill intentions of some politicians as their reasons for defection.

The interactive session had in attendance human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Femi Falana, alongside a renowned journalist, Mr Kunle Ajibade, among others.
