Aggrieved Youths Burn Down Residences Of Senator, Reps In Kano

Aggrieved youths, on Wednesday at about 11am, set ablaze the residences of Sen. Kabiru Gaya, in Gaya Local Government area of Kano State and the campaign office and poultry farm of Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud, the House of Representatives member from the area.

It was learnt that the youths were protesting the alleged failure of the two politicians to fulfil the promises they made to them during the 2015 election campaigns.

It was also learnt that security agents had initially dispersed the protesting youths, who later regrouped and burnt the senator Gaya’s house before heading to Mahmoud’s house.

Confirming the incidence, the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Police Command, DSP Magaji Majiya said that the police in the area were trying to contain the situation.

“Our men in Gaya are still trying to bring the situation under control but as soon as we get details of the incident, we will keep you posted”, he said.
