Delta Election Tribunal Upholds Okowa’s Election
The Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba has dismissed the petition filed by labour party and its governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, challenging the election of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP), candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Ogboru has alleged that the April 11 election, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was done in a breach of the Electoral Act and the guidelines for the election.

Delivering its judgement, chairman of the three-man tribunal, Justice Nasir Gunmi declared that the petitioners lacked merit.

Justice Gunmi therefore upheld Okowa’s Election, and directed the petitioner to pay fines of N50, 000 to each of the respondents.
