EFCC Arrest Former Jigawa Governor, Saminu Turaki

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki.

Mr Turaki was picked up by officials of the anti-graft agency on Tuesday.The former governor is being investigated by the EFCC for allegedly mismanaging the state’s funds while in office.

An EFCC source who confirmed the arrest, said the former Governor has been evading court orders and will not be released until after the date of the next court sitting.

Recall that Turaki was in 2013 declared wanted by a Federal High Court, sitting in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

He is also wanted by the EFCC in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, money laundering and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N36 Billion.

According to the anti-graft agency, the former governor’s last known address is No. 16 Dennis Osadebey Street, Asokoro, Abuja.

The EFCC had in May last year raided his home, but the former governor was not present at the time of the raid.
