EFCC Nabs Top Police Boss Over ‘N600m Fraud’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested a director of administration at the Police Service Commission (PSC), Emmanuel Ibe.

Ibe’s arrest followed a petition last week by some members of the Police Service Commission Cooperative Society who accused the PSC chief of defrauding them in a land acquisition deal.

Ibe was said to have collected about N600 million from members of the cooperative after introducing them to a sham land acquisition scheme.

According to reports, some members of the cooperative had also introduced their family members to the supposed land deal.

EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed Ibe’s arrest further told journalists that the director had been arraigned by the ICPC on nine counts fraud related charges before Justice C. N. Oji of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja.

“It is true. He (Ibe) was arrested and he is in our custody,” Uwujaren said.
