The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the certification of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, come July 21.
Rabiu Yadudu, the Director of Operations, FAAN, made this known during the Quarterly Breakfast Meeting of the Aviation Roundtable (ART) held on Thursday in Lagos.
According to Yadudu, the certification being done by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Western and Central Africa (WACAF) under its implementation of the Africa-Indian Ocean (AFI) Plan Aerodrome Certification Project would help improve infrastructure, procedure and safety of the airport.
Also, The AFI Plan was adopted by the 36th ICAO Assembly to address the safety status of aircraft operations in the AFI Region.
Yadudu further announced that the certification will continue to Abuja, Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt after five weeks respectively.
“Once we certify Lagos, we will continue with that of Abuja Airport which will take place after another five weeks.
“We are also targeting the certification of other airports like Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt within the next few months,” he said.
