Maina: Magu Is Fighting 2019 Kanuri Governorship Agenda – Biu Emirate

The people of Biu Emirate Council of Southern Borno have accused the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu of fighting to install his Kanuri kinsman as governor in 2019, hence the “witch hunt” of former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina.

Magu and Maina are both from Borno state.

Coordinator, Biu Emirate Youth Advancement Coalition, Malam Umar Bundi Bukar, has called on Magu to hands-off their son, “Maina who has contributed his quota to the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.”

In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Bukar while accusing Magu of engaging in a fight the entire Southern Borno through Maina, said the red herring by the anti-graft boss will not stand.

The coalition also challenged Magu to “publish Maina’s son’s account showing the balance of N1.7bn as he alleged at the House of Representatives probe,” stressing that “any word coming from Magu regarding the pension fraud cannot be trusted.”

Bukar further alleged that “Magu was on a spree of fabrications since Borno South started agitation for power rotation and its likely candidate might be Mr. Maina, that is why Magu being a Kanuri man, has been working hard alongside some officials of Borno state government to drag Maina’s name into the mud.”

According to him, Maina has performed creditably well and no person in Nigeria has achieved his feat to date, urging President Buhari to give Maina a chance by granting him audience.
