NDLEA Nabs Truck Laden With 3 Tonnes Of Drugs In Yola

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of the Adamawa Command on Wednesday, arrested a truck conveying three tonnes of drug in the state.

The state Commander of the agency, Mr. Yakubu Kibo, who said this at a news briefing in Yola, said that the drug was estimated at N15 million and was neatly concealed in 220 cartons in the truck.

His words, “The team of NDLEA operatives along Yola-Numan road on 22/08/2016 intercepted a Mercedes Benz container truck with registration number XA 673 WSH for a search.

“The search revealed three tonnes and 80kg of Stopcof Lictus CoughSyrup with Codeine concealed in 220 cartons in the truck.”

The driver and his assistant when arrested claimed that the goods belonged to a pharmaceutical company and that they were travelling from Minna to Jalingo.

He said that investigations revealed that there was no fixed address for the delivery of the consignment.

“This goes to show that the movement of the substance was with criminal intention and investigation is going to unveil the truth of the matter.”

Last week, NDLEA arrested a Nigerian man, Abiodun Israel Banjo, who resides in Pretoria, South Africa, after he was found with a parcel of illicit drugs tested to be methamphetamine.
