Due to the rise in cases of ritual killings in the state, Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, yesterday, August 6, ordered the state police officers to shoot on sight ritualists, cultist, kidnappers and armed robbers caught perpetrating the act.

He said: “criminal activities are becoming alarming every day in the state and drastic action has to be taken. Ritualists’ are killing people. We won’t tolerate that. When you see them in action, they should shoot on sight. When you see them perpetrating the act, bring them down.”

“I want to inform you that the issue of cultism and ritualists will not be treated with levity any longer. We have decided and I have given order to my boys to shoot on sight any cultist, ritualist caught perpetrating any of these activities.

“Either armed personally or they are found in group with arms, my men will bring them down.

“We have decided that a cult member would be treated as an armed robber, a murderer.”

Ali added that if any member of the public found any policeman not discharging his duty correctly, such cases should be reported.

The CP also promised that the suspect who kidnapped a 20-month-old boy, Emmanuel Ogundele, about 12 days ago at the christening of a baby in Abeokuta, would soon be arrested.

“It is barely 30 days that I assumed office, and I have promised to do my best and I will continue until we get rid of the bad eggs in our society.

The Ogun state commissioner of police recently paid a visit to the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni, to deliberate on vital security issues towards effective policing of the two prominent commands.
